Spool up with Trilene XL and use the money you save on the high priced stuff to buy bait. Been using it since it hit the market without complaint.

XL x 2 A few years back a major fishing magazine did an article on monofilament fishing lines. Each brand was compared to -you guessed it -
Trilene XL. A typical evaluation ran something like this... Brand whatever did everything XL did. Then cost was mentioned $20+ for 120 yards
for the new tuff as opposed to $7.99 for 320 yards of XL... Your choice. Just be aware all of those light monofilament lines love to form loop monsters.
Fish on,

X3 on the XL, use it on all my rods

I’ve used XL , and P line and p line floro coated all 4# test with no complaints , also have used carbotex but is hard to get

If yer bait dunking then mono.. If yer actually fishing, I:E casting jigs, then 2 or 4 lb Nano is truly the bomb. 8)

I like Pline Floroclear. Almost as easy to find as Berkley Trilene XL.

Pline flouro light weight rods, Pline tactical flouro for everything else.

Also a pline user. I like it. Cant knock trilene, first line I ever bought as a kid. Does its job.

I like Pline and Trilene XL, and others too.
And I know you asked about mono.
But why not a light 2-4# inexpensive braid.
There's a bunch on the market.
It won't retain the coils like mono or flouro so it casts a mile, and it takes a truck to break the stuff.
Also, it's UV and abrasion resistant, which typically gives you longer life over mono or flouro.
Besides, with a small ultralight reel you won't be using a lot anyway.
When I'm jig fishing for eyes or other wary fish, I run a short flouro leader anyways.
Just a thought.
Good luck.
