Looking for advice on where to catch any kind of fish within the confines of the break wall or near round house. I volunteer for Excalibur Leisure Skills Center. Please see website for what we do. Taking some very sick kids out tomorrow AM. Leave Safe Harbor Marina for 2 hour trips. May be their last trip. Would like to have them catch some fish and smile. All fish are released. I will only share your advice with our captains. PM if you want to keep secret spots.

If the wind is ok try along the outside of the break wall esp by the north and middle gaps. Can also try the wall by the lighthouse. Drifting by the round house can be good at times.
-
Middle gap with crabs.
The smallies will cooperate for the kids.
-
South gap near the grain elevators has a few walleyes along with small perch and sheephead. North gap around the ends of the jetties are good for bass. Crabs and nightcrawler drifted along the bottom should keep them busy.

Thanks for the intel gentlemen. We can only drift fish, so middle gap was not on option. Boat is 30 ft. Thank you trollers and long liners for going way around us. We fished in front of Cargill elevator. Got smiles ( that's our pay ) also dances, screaming, fist bumps and high fives. Got sheapshead, walleye, perch, white perch and rock bass. Kids had a great day. This was a Make A Wish Event. Family was from out of state. They will remember Buffalo's hospitality. Thanks again and FISH ON!! Tried to post pictures but could not make it work. HELP

Very rewarding in every way. Glad the kids had a good time.

That's awesome!!!

If you guys are not familiar with Excalibur, they do an awesome job. I have been at the SBH in the past when they have come in and to see those kids almost inside out with smiles is heart warming. Great organization to support with a few bucks either individually or for you sportsman's club.

This is the best post I have seen in a long time!
To the OP, thank you for volunteering your time for this! I am sure it rewarding, but it can’t be easy. The kids seem to really enjoy it, and that’s what counts! Just great to see people sharing the love.

volunteers all over your area and mine get a thumbs up from me and all the kids involved...especially in today's world to start some youngsters in fishing to let them see how something other than tv and video games...something more rewarding and gets them outside...thanks to you and all the volunteers involved. :thumbup_smilie:

We also take out seniors, veterans, school groups, church groups and can combine single families. The boat can accommodate wheelchairs. Not all trips are fishing. Outer harbor history tour is an option if too windy to fish or clients do not want to fish. If enough members wish to follow this post I will keep it going for the season. Thanks for your support.

Definitely thumbs up

Switched browser and was finally able to load images. Had seniors, church group and family group last week. Only family group was able to fish. Fished south gap. Got some short walleye, couple huge white perch And lost something really big. Passed my pole off to a lady and she got all excited and tried to horse it in. Hook let loose. Area was really crowded because of the wind. Give a wave if you see the boat out there.
-
Now that is a "fishing boat". It might drift a little too fast for me if the wind was to come up but I bet some good times have been had on it...h2l
-
It not only drifts too fast to hold bottom, It rolls side to side in waves. The boat is an ocean design to handle rollers. It is called an Island Hopper and was built in Florida. Has very little keel. It is also top heavy because the interior deck was lifted to create a completely flat surface for wheelchairs and tie down channels. Also has a power lift in the stern for loading and another in the bow to access the head.

Had a couple trips last week South Gap. East wind, one trip at noon. Got skunked. One trip 10:00 AM Got a few perch and white perch. Kids were happy. Did walleyes move out or just bad time and wind direction? Yesterday was United Way day of caring. Thank you Roswell team!

Taking out 93 year old guy and his family fishing for his birthday. Would really like this guy to catch some fish. Sheepshead, bass, whatever. South gap seems to have faded out. Must stay within confines of break wall unless no wind. Round house is an option. Any advice would be appreciated.
-
I would try heading out of the North Gap. A little ways out there is green buoy that marks the shipping channel. It is anchored on a rock pile. Troll or drift from the green buoy towards the round house and work the rock pile as it drops off. Used to get walleyes there. May get some bass and definitely some sheepies.
-
Yes, that is a good area , and close to harbor,
Good luck
-
Drifted from 12:00 to 2:00 between green buoy and wall. Then moved to wall with lighthouse. Eight rods in water with night crawlers. only got 2 gobies. Really wanted to get a fish for the 93 year old guy on his birthday. Tried hard but no luck. Thanks for the advice.

Still volunteering for this program. It has been 17 years. We take seniors too.
