I was watching the weather channel and it looks like your heading for some tuff weather with that hurricane heading into your area.
Be careful, get up hill if you can and keep us posted
-
Thanks.
I have plenty of tequila to ride things out.
I also booked a room in Miami for tomorrow and Wednesday nights for my aunt, Donna, Macy, and myself. - they have a bar!!!! 8)
-
Glad to hear you’re heading for “safer” ground ;)
-
Optimistically, you’ll get to test out the hurricane windows.
I hope you and yours and everyone in FL stays safe
-
Stay safe Mac, glad your heading to safer ground.
-
Good luck Mac. Why I cant live down there.
-
Always a downside to living somewhere Mac. If it's not hurricanes, it's droughts, tornadoes, straight line winds, training thunderstorm flooding, ice storms, or earthquakes.
Stay safe and keep us posted.

We just got into the hotel.
It was bumper to bumper across Alligator Alley.
What is normally a 3 hr drive ended up being a 5 hr drive for us.
Now it’s looking like the eye will come right thru our area. So the trip here was smart.
My brother and his wife stayed.
Their cats were their reason.
Dopes!!
I pray they come out of this ok.
My aunt stayed too.
I invited her to come with us but she refused.
I need to call her again and try to convince her to leave.
I have beer.
I have insurance, but prefer not using it of course.
-
Fingers crossed. I have two employees in the line of fire unfortunately, one of which is in Tampa. Will have to see how things play out.

It’s hitting quite a bit south of Tampa.
Between Ft Meyers and Sarasota. At least for now, that’s the projected path. And because of this Tampa will escape the storm surge too.
-
Hoping everyone stays safe...h2l

Fingers crossed that everyone stays safe as Ian makes his way inland

Our place will be on the 9oclock side of the storm.
This means far less storm surge for our home.
Still crazy long term winds.
We are sitting here in Miami, drinking beer, and watching TWC.
Tomorrow, if we are allowed back home, should prove interesting.
On pins and needles to say the least.
BTW, my brother and his wife stayed.
I spoke to her about 11am and she was a mess - supper scared, but past the point where they could evac.
I sent her a text a few minutes ago and still haven't heard back from her yet.
-
Thanks for the update. Keeping all in my prayers Mac.
-
My SIL just responded to my text.
The house next to theirs lost the entire roof.
Their rook is leaking in the LR a little bit.
Looks like we are on the backside of it.
But still have 4-6 more hours of heavy winds and rain.
-
Oh yea, I still have plenty of cold beer.
-
Where’s the tequila? I’m doing a shot right now for all of you..
My buddy neighbor has a big trailer in a park in Cedar Keys. He’s up here now but worried about what he has to go back to next month…
-
I have 4 bottles of Anejo and Reposado back home. Hopefully it’s safe and sound.
I’m sitting at the hotel bar right now. Going to order a double Jameson on the rocks. Also order some take out for the room. Donna wants chicken fingers. I’m going to get a bacon cheeseburger. And maybe a 2nd double Jameson. Lol
-
The roof just ripped off my brother’s place and they have an inch of water already in there.
nuts’s getting real.
-
Stay safe buddy
-
Hopefully everyone makes it out without injury Mac. Glad you all made moves for the hotel beds.
-
What town are they in? We have family in Northport. And some further inland in Sebring. Prayers sent

Same as me.
North Port.
They are less than 1/4 mile down the road, 2 communities to the south.
Things are bad.
Real bad.
Now there is a major Tornado warning.
Don't have a clue what our place is like, or if it's even still standing.
-
Haven't had any contact with family in Northport since around 5. Long night ahead.
-
Got a close friend down there... she lost power around 915.. shes in st pete area but evacuated to the east coast....
-
Unsure if we can/should head back home tomorrow.
We have only been able to speak to people that evacuated as we did.
Nobody knows anything.
My brother and SIL's phones both go immediately to VM.
But I'm sure they have their hands full - I cannot really bother them.
Tomorrow morning I will try to contact someone back there and decide what to do.
Anxious to get back there, but there are ZERO hotel rooms available back there.
So if we cannot get back into our community, where would we go, what would we do.
Crazy
-
No hotels available back home.
ZERO!!!!
Just went down to the front desk to extend our stay.
3 people in front of me asking the desk clerk the same thing.
3X he told them they had no room and could not extend anyone's stay.
I waited until people left and then told him I am Diamond Elite with IHG (International Hotel Group).
He looked it up - I got an extra night.
Free of charge.
-
Mac best wishes to you and family, hope your new home is ok when you go back.
-
Most definitely hope your home is ok!!!!
Personally I'd MUCH RATHER deal with the cold for a few months than what you're going through!!!!!!
Keep us informed mac and best of luck to you
-
Mac, you are in our thoughts...h2l

Are you anywhere near LA casa mobile home park. I've heard they took it very rough. So far family in Northport over off toledo blade and 41 has had minimal damage considering. My dad in Sebring had the roof fall due to rain and wind. Still haven't heard from a cousin in ft myers.
-
Found this Mac. Not sure if it helps or hurts but figured id share it. Wish I cpuld help you brother!

Yea, LaCasa is one of the 5 communities along 41.
west to east -
Lazy River, Riverwalk (ours), Harbor Isles, Harbor Cove (my brother, SIL, and aunt's place), and LaCosa
Ours, Riverwalk, I believe is the newest community. (I think)
So the infrastructure, and homes, are newer.

That could have been Harbor Cove, where my brother and aunt live.
It's the oldest community of the 5.
Those homes in that video were older units.
-
Hope you have made your way back home and didn’t find too much damage. Thoughts and prayers are with you, Donna and everyone else dealing with Ian. Stay safe
-
How about an update Mac? Hoping all is well. I have a good buddy in Cape Coral and he said it was WAY worse than he thought and he's lived there for 30 years so he knows these storms.
