Hi guys,
I would like to try for channel cat fishing sometime in the Red River, maybe this open water season if I am lucky.

Where along the red river would you guys feel would be the best all round shore fishing spot or spots?
I don't want your secret spots, they should stay secret. ;)
I just would like a general good area to fish, if I am out that way.

Do you guys feel a guide is necessary for someone looking for cats on the Red River for the 1st time?
If a person was to hire a guide, who would you all recommend, CatDaddy Fishing guide, cateye outfitters or Cats on the Red? ???

WW

For Outfitters I heard CatDaddy was a great time. Just got to watch out for the kitty slaps lol. As for the other ones I'm not to sure.

WW I stay at Cats on the Red and will maybe go 2 or 3 times this year if I can.  It‘s a bit no-frills but there are stores close by and Selkirk‘s handy for a cafe meal once in awhile.  Stu and his family are great and it‘s a regular trip for a lot of people.  It‘s harder to catch from shore than in a boat but it can be good at times.
If you say the word "gullible" really slow, it sounds like "oranges".

Cats are on fire from the boat and showing no signs of slowing down.Tons of Drum around, especially from shore. As usual for this time of year Goldeye and Shrimp are the baits of choice.

fishing from shore has been dynamite for me in the last 2 weeks
continuous drum if you want to catch them, and if you know where the cats have been continuous too
also two biggest landed fish of the weekend were a 36" 39 pound carp and a 37 1/2" cat

heres the carp i dont have the  catfish pictures uploaded yet
