Lures or crawler harnesses for eyes?
« on: Jun 12, 2008, 05:56 PM »
What is everyone using? I have good luck with the simple daredevil on some local lakes ( middle of the up) on a no live bait lake but the good old crawler harness seems to work also. just curious on what all you guys are having luck with?

For myself I usually have just as good a luck on artificial lures as the real things. When they get picky it's good to experiment with both and let the fish tell you what they want.

a jig tipped with a minnow seems to do the trick, around rocks or drop-offs.

In the UP (keweenaw) crawler harness with orange blades with a live crawler.  pull it behind a bottom bouncer or lindy rig.  Very slow drift ~1mph.
A bad day fishing and drinking beer is better than a good day at work.

Depending on the time of the year it can be a Mr. twister on a 1/4 oz head, worm harness with a bottom bouncer, a leech with a splitshot or off a slip float, jig head with a minnow, minnow on a slip sinker. Rapala', Smithwicks, Hopkins spoons. The list is just about endless. Don't get stuck in a rut because it worked yesterday.

depending on the mood of the fish we all know that eyes can be very picky
Don't use your sick days when you are sick use them when the fish are biting. It all looks the same on your time card
