Kim, not bad for July 4th weekend. Just way too much boat traffic for me. The more you fish an area the more you learn. Many areas produce year after year, just keep in mind the water level changes during the year.....h2l

Thanks everyone. Took me 20+ years to learn how to catch walleye up there. Never have been very good on artificials so natural was the way for me. Bought a smaller mangeable boat with smaller motor and my catches increased. Maybe 1 or 2 undersize [per year but the rest are kept. Tight Lines to all.....

Nice job H2l, you had a good day, was nice to see you out there. We caught 2 walleyes only 1 keeper and a northern. Sun got to me, but it was a nice day, might put the bimini top on next trip.

Iceman, most of the walleyes came from the spot I had fished when I went out. I had left that area because the perch were eating all my .25+ worms. On the way back up the lake the wind had changed and picked up so I stopped there again. The walleyes were pretty active for about 45 minutes, the wind changed to the west and they shut right off. Had 2 or 3 pretty good fish get off. The 3 I got I gave to a friend in trade for apple bread, their blackberries aren't ready yet....h2l

I waited almost 45 minutes at the launch to get the boat out, some "fisherman" couldn't get his boat off the trailer because his tie down straps were still on!

H2l that trade sounds like a good one. The boat launch can be pretty entertaining at times.

I once saw a kid with his dad’s power boat try to launch it by unhooking the trailer from the hitch…

Slow weekend for me. 2 Walleye same drift with 1 in the net and other pole went down. 1 keeper and 1 short 13". All I could manage 6 trips out. Traffic horrible so that came into play. Yes, I tried fishing mid-day, not again. Did find another spot thanks to a tip from a guy I know up there. He many targets' bass.

Weekends can be a pain. HINT: 2 fish on at about the same time will sometimes tell you something. The fish I have been catching are from "spots". 7 of the 8 I caught on last trip were on a spot about 50' x 50', but it does produce fish on a regular basis the past 2 or 3 years, you just have to be there at the right time. In the past if I catch a few on a spot and there is another spot close by I would move to see if that spot was also active, sometimes yes sometimes no. There are always active fish, you just have to find them, my .02 cents. Like Buck Perry always said, " the fish are deep, shallow or somewhere in between"....h2l

Kim like h2l said weekends can be a pain, if that's the only time you can fish make the best of it. Fish early morning or later in evening less boat traffic. You still did well not getting skunked.

Picked up 4 keepers Saturday night just as the sun set about 8:30 fished from 6 till 8:30 before I had my first bite. Picked up 4 in about 30 minutes then the wife got nervous about being out in the dark  ::) I'll be back to that spot soon to see if it was just a fluke or not
