Autumn Mushrooming
« on: Oct 15, 2022, 12:46 PM »
I took a ride in the country this morning with a friend and my older daughter to search for mushrooms.

It was a beautiful fall day - - with the foliage at its peak.

We hit the jackpot - - an oyster, some hen of the woods, and a bunch of shaggy mane.  The best day out we've had this year.

We also stopped at a farm stand in Pownal (VT) where I picked up some shag bark syrup and elderberry sauce.

At the same farm stand, I met a frisky long haired daschund (the first one I can ever recall seeing) named Scooter, who insisted on playing fetch with a wood chip.

Earlier, while passing another farm closer to home, we saw a doe and its fawn incredibly close up (maybe 50 feet away), that didn't seem fazed by us at all.
