I know all this run off from this snow we have is gonna make the first day of heaven (trout) season a rough one but who here is ready for it? I have new line on my spinning reel and my trout Centerpin... I have my fly rod all ready to rock and an order of lures and flies coming in from fish USA... I would say I'm pretty much ready how about you guys/gals?

I'm guessing my opening day is going to be closer to May 1st. Although, the snow is showing real signs of disappearing.

I might need snow shoes and an auger for opening day of trout. ;D

I know northern ponds will still be iced in ! and i'm betting a lot of catskill ones will be too ... we have a lot of ice ...the streams are going to be raging ..... I think it will be one of the worse and hardest open days we have had in many years
-
Can't catch them sitting home.... I'll be braving the smallest of my streams head waters ... I have always had good luck there even when downstream is raging.... Really reminds me of the tiny. Adk brookie streams except very few brookies all browns.... ;D I know I'm gonna getit done this sstupid snow ain't holding me back :D

I hiked through knee high snow to get skunked in what seemed like class 5 rapids last year. If I'm lucky, I'll still be laid off by then and I can drive south to find an open pond somewhere.

no snow in gillette wy...and the shores are mostly open now.

Our snow here in Steuben is leaving us very quickly... If it hurries up might be enough time for the rivers to drop a little by the first

one of the bigger problems even if the streams aren't flooded they won't be stocked well ,the streams have to hit a certain tempture before they can be stocked

Did a little scouting on the Oriskany yesterday in the Walesville area. Did notice a lot of big "Bugs" on the snow banks . Had a descent one tagged for a bit but lost it. I know they are holding in my go to spots but I will wait until the water temp comes up a little more ...
-
I hope we get a foot of snow 4/1. I love cold openers. I have the creeks all to myself. C'mere big brown!
