The time is now. The bait is uncooked shrimp

I always enjoy this thread. Here in indiana most people consider them trash fish. I don't know anyone who specifically targets them. Not sure why though as they are much better eating than blues or channels.

You got that right Tve   I'm waiting for the first night this coming week with no wind.  May pickup a few crawlers in the mean time as I like to have a couple different baits to offer them
Most folks don't think of this but you cut a medium sized shrimp into 3 or more pieces and they are 1/4  the price of buying crawlers and much easier to keep. Plus the extras are pretty good fried

Time to spread the word there Fishinator   They are some good eats as long as they are caught in clean fresh water.   Catch them in a stagnant beaver pond and they taste like the pond

Think I’ll just eat the shrimp. I’ve got a tub full of crawlers to feed the bullhead. They’ll last till the really warm weather.

The pond I fish is part of a creek system. This time of year there’s really good flow through it and they taste great. I got a couple the other day just experimenting for an hour or so. Water is still cold, it’s pretty windy with high pressure and a full moon. A perfect storm of bad fishing conditions. No sense trying today.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

I missed it the night it was raining and I've had constant cold wind since then. Guess it'll be a bit before I can get mine

Water an area on your lawn, drive 2 pieces of rebar into lawn, attach battery charger on low to rebar. Wait 1/2 hour, shut off charger. Go pick up the crawlers.

In the spring, with cold fresh water, and properly cared for, bullies cannot be beat for table fare.

I love them the next day cold on rye bread with ketchup.  Awesome sandwich!!
