Today was Free Fishing Day in VT, so two of my buddies and I made the ride north from MA to fish a couple of streams up there.
It was a beautiful day - - a little cloudy when we arrived (around 8 AM), but cleared up after an hour or so, with fairly stead temps around 70 - - and ideal stream conditions.
We fished the Hoosic in Pownal and Walloomsac in Bennington, and netted about a dozen trout total (all browns on the Hoosic , and mostly rainbows - - with an odd brookie and a solitary brown - - on the Walloomsac), with yours truly landing the big fish of the day (an 18" rainbow).
Then we adjourned for beers and appetizers at the Madison Brewery in Bennington.
A great end to a great day!
