Hungry Eagle
« on: Jul 16, 2019, 07:37 AM »
While up at Crystal Falls, guy in neighboring cottage hooked a 4lb smallmouth. After a couple of jumps he's getting ready to net it and a Bald Eagle swoops down and grabs the bass and starts to fly away. Guy yells, "Hey, he's got my fish!" and eagle drops the fish , makes two circles and goes up and sits in a pine tree.
Guy wanted to release smallmouth but it had four deep punture wounds. It was a female and had eggs running out of her.

I’ve seen an eagle go for a swim back to shore because it couldn’t lift a small lake trout out of the water. Made it to shore, still holding the fish, and dragged it out. I didn’t keep filming or I’d have gotten it with the fish too.
"You know when they have a fishing show on TV? They catch the fish and then let it go. They don't want to eat the fish, they just want to make it late for something." - Mitch Hedberg
