I fish any and all...whatever works..
I live in the Bangor area and fish mostly for smallies on the Penoby, now that we can't fish for Atlantic salmon, in fact, I guide on it occasionally (yes I am a Master Maine Guide).
I prefer to fly fish but have been known to use something else if the fish don't co-operate with the flies...In fact since weight has been allowed in FFO, I have a hard time figuring out what is a fly and what isn't....plenty of weighted flies could be easily flung on spinning tackle...and with chuck and duck techniques on the flyrod you can throw all kinds of stuff...new materials and creative tiers have come up with all kinds of stuff...in fact I'm trying to get some definitions out of DIFW that make sense, rather than the whims of the warden on any particular day...course it does'nt matter on ALO or general law water...I've heard that Gummi Minnows ain't kosher on FFO water but I've also heard otherwise as well....I want to use use whatever i can within the limits of the law....you gott admit though, that most of the weighted nymphers with multiple hooked rigs of today, ain't doing what my grandfather, and yours did, on Slaughter Pond and Nesowadnehunk Stream with his flyrod!
I mostly fish north of Bangor for cold water stuff...I kinda stay away from popular spots..although I do like the West Branch and the East Branch of the Penoby, the other spots are longer drives north.
I've been on the ice shanty forum for a couple of years but don't post much, I see this looks like the same crew...
If you really want to welcome me you can tell me where all your hidey holes are!
