9.9 kicker speed

I have a lund 1600 explorer , was thinking of adding a 9.9 kicker motor.
Was wondering, without using a drift sock, to aid in lowering your speed,
how slow can you troll with a 9.9 kicker motor under normal weather conditions?

fishinjohn:
My guess is you should be able to get down to 1 mph or so

This was my 2013 Lund.
I used a Terrova 80# up front with the 8hp Honda.
With the Honda at an idle, if I turned down my Terrova low enough to get below 1.6-1.8, I would lose steering control on the ipilot.
I then bought a new prop with less pitch (maybe 9 to 8, dunno)
It helped, but still not enough.
So I took the prop to a custom prop repair shop.
He turned the OD down on a lathe to get me where I wanted to be.
I was trying for 0.8-1.0 with both speed and ipilot control.
On rough water or some wind involved we did awesome.
On glass water, TBH, I would have like more of the OD cut.
Maybe I shoulda had the 6hp.............but not sure if things would be any better.

My point to all this post (sorry), is that your rig is way lighter, and less beam, than mine.

i really think you will need to drag bags to get what you want.

Good luck and please keep us posted on things.

Mac couldnt he adjust the idle down to get less speed?

Of course, if there is any adjustment available.
However, sometimes they are already bottomed out and the motor is already at its lowest RPM.
This is a good suggestion.
I did this on a small Mirrocraft I had with a 25hp Yamaha.

The 8hp Honda on my Lund was already at the lowest possible idle.
