Finally...lakers.
« on: Jul 12, 2020, 08:57 AM »
With my quabbin plans dashed having several delayed washes and issues with being out of state, I sold my quabbin boat and have been goofing around fishing for bass and pike for weeks here in CT.  I finally made it to NY and beat on the lakers most of yesterday.  First one came to the jig in our second spot.  Several hours later we had several doubles and landed over 20 a piece.  Nothing huge but a few were decent like the one pictured.  Day started wet with a soaking all the way up there.  Then rain was replaced with excessive wind.  Even so the lakers were hungry in some spots.  I think we figured out there were two groups of them.  Groups that were up on structure actively feeding and others were stacked on the bottom of flats.  They wouldn't eat at all.

Next laker trip will be champ.  Boats ready short of fixing a seat that loosened up.

Dare I say a pretty fish! Nice job, we also messed around with some lakers today, but noticed the same as you with flats vs structure.

Congrats! Thanks for sharing. That's a big lake. Must have been a challenge in the wind.

Is the water stained? (Fish is dark).

The wind wasn't a huge struggle with spot lock.  The water does have some tint to it but we catch lakers that aren't as dark too.

Jon, the Q has been similar with med to smaller size lakers. I think the temps have them spread out.

Nice work, Jon!

Thanks Mike.  Will my buddy has been on a few.  The suspended marks are the ones you want to find and fish for.  Aggressive strikes.
