Title: Having a crappie turkey season so far...
Post by: bart on May 05, 2008, 04:32 PM
Got into some crappies! Only a few keepers but it was fun. We found them in a quiet inlet in about 2' of water. We used slip float, #6 Aberdeen hooks and minnows, worked great! Tomorrow is turkey hunting!!!

Nicely done, Bart!  I haven't been able to do much in terms of turkeys so far.  I just got home (New Berlin) from college (Cobleskill) and haven't been out yet.  Looks like I'll be hitting the woods in the morning.

Neat photos bart, nice crappie and big old toms.  :)
We don't have crappie or turkey in this area but I would like to go for both some day.

Do wild turkey taste the same as the tame ones? ???

Way to go Bart. This season hasn't been great here, but not bad either. Shot my first Tom on mothers day and have caught a few trout. Going to try for a slam of sorts this Sat. Turkey in the am, Trout in the pm, and bullhead after dark. Hope it works lol.

Water Wolf, Crappies are new to me, definitely fun and exciting. Spring turkey hunting is absolutely awesome, if you ever get the opportunity there will be no regrets!
There may be debate, but to me the wild turkey breast meat is every much as good as domestic turkey. The rest of the wild turkey TOUGH!

1fish@atime, Great slam, being older, I would probably would have to add a nap to it, good luck!
