All the small lakes around NW Montana are still frozen but to what strength or stability level I'm not willing to test at this point. Went up to Lake Koocanusa to try my luck catching Kamloops Rainbows, Bull trout, and Kokanee...got about 12 small Kokes and this nice Bull Trout.

Picture could have been better had I had someone with me to take it! After the photo he went back in the drink. I caught it on my UL 8' Kokanee trolling rod so It took me about 15 minutes to tire him out and get him in the boat. Great first open water day!

Went out for steelies and browns...ended up getting into the perch. So we loaded up the stringer.

Other than panfish ive been catching... first lake trout of openwater 08 fishing for salmon. Ive hooked into and missed more salmon than i want to talk about. it's a dink of a laker but it's a fish --> 23.5 inches just over 4 lbs. it was filled with smelt and one big cicso about 10 inches.

Well my first fish this season is a wiper but that was when everything else is still froze around here . Not the best pic because I was by myself .

Got a good start on the season this year with my first fish. Sebago Lake LL Salmon. 7 1/2 pounds on a digital scale.
