The Ceremony
« on: Aug 25, 2017, 06:44 PM »
Any fly fisher worth his salt owns a straw hat. My straw hats serve me well on the rivers, streams, lakes, in the garden, mowing the lawn or just sitting about in the warmth of the summer months.

They do, however, wear out. When the brim flaps about out of control and the General shape resembles a woven pile of fettuccine, it's time for a new one. Well, after 4 years of faithful service, the time had come for my old straw hat. So....the ceremony....a fine and fitting end to an old friend.

Goodbye old friend.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Man, this reminds me of my old cap. I just keep it with me, due to its sentimental value.

My ex wife burnt a jones style cap I had worn for years. No ceremony like you had for your old straw hat, RG. She just burnt it when she burnt the papers. I could never find one like it as the new ones stuck way up so they caught the brush in the woods so they got knocked off.
