West Branch

Well, the time of year has come when I actually start to target smallmouth.  Not knocking them, because they are a blast to catch, I would rather target salmon and brookies.  If there are people out there that enjoy landing 2lb smallies on a regular basis, the West Branch of the Penobscot is really the place to go.  I know there are some guide services, but the average person should have no trouble finding biting fish.  The views are spectacular, and the fish pretty much bite non-stop.  I've landed 50 in a few hour stretch with a friend before.  I was in a kayak so didn't bring a camera, but here is a pic while I was trolling for salmon on Sunday.....not even a bite but who cares.

Now, the meals I definitely got pictures of

3 weeks until the annual Father's Day brook fishing trip into the Allagash
