Braid or Fluorocarbon?
« on: Apr 21, 2020, 06:02 PM »
Advantage/disadvantage of spooling with braid or flouro on a Pflueger President reel? Primarily fishing trout, walleye and bass. Suggestions? Thanks!

Depends. I happen to love braid. Many hate it.  I use Nanofil 6lb with a 10 lb floro leader.  For eyes, trout, bass, perch, whatever.  Straight floro on a spinning reel tends to birds-nest.  Your results may vary.

X2 for the braid to a fluoro leader.  My ultralight spinning setup I run 6lb PLine but if the line starts to get twisted I'll change it out since the spool doesn't hold too much.

I like braid , for ice fishing , shore casting and soft water jigging  ,
Eyes , lake trout. , and perch , with either a  trans optic or carbotex leader

Braid with a floro leader. Braid last longer, but trout may be line shy. Floro has its place, but since it doesn’t recover from being stretched, I don’t like using it as the bulk of my spool.
