First fish in a couple of ways.
« on: May 28, 2011, 04:08 AM »
Got out today just for a half hour or so this morning. But what a good half hour. I have been working on my own lures and finally got to try them out. They aren't pretty but turns out they work.

First fish of my open water season and first catch on my own lure.

A bit corny but I am proud.

Welldone Catfish!  I'm just getting into making my own lures, and it's very satisfying to make a lure, catch a fish on it and cook it up!  Way to go!
what are you using for line? Kite string?
tight lines....

Ha ha ha

30lb invisi-braid. Lots of rocks and logs in the lake, with this stuff I never break off, and the color doesn't seem to spook the fish.

yeah, I got that stuff too, I was super disappointed with the "invisibility" of it.  I see you got a flouro leader though, I'm sure that helps. Once again, congrats - good on ya for catching one on a homemade lure.  DIY is the best way!
tight lines....

The invisi part is a bit of false advertising. I use wire leaders for trolling and most pike fishing for that matter.
