Guess I need to clarify. I meant that chasing the gills and perch usually comes after the crappie and walleye fishing, in my neck of the woods. At least 4 me cause the weather is nicer, and I seem to get out more to fish. I know perch are always biting somewhere.

Never fished Bruce in the summer for crappie but have ice fished for them after dark many times since the 80's. Clear back when you could park on the south lake road out from the west end. And I don't ever remember catching anything much bigger than 10", for me crappies have always been small to med there, can't remember the perch getting big there either.
