Forgot to mention one problem I encountered. I was picking up the bearings with magnets and, after much frustration trying to get the bearings to feed and exit the lift tower, I realized that I had inadvertently magnetized them and they were sticking together.

So....my new balls are on the way.

Go ahead....l left that one out there for you 😆

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Take them to a machine shop and have them de-magnetized. Quick, simple process.  ;D
One more with the one we're after and we'll have two.

Yes, they wash your balls in a strong acid bath I hear.

I can always count on you Mac.

No worries Bill. A new batch was less than $10. Made more progress today. Another layer to the wire work. I'm about halfway to the top and already thinking about the next section.

Take an old round speaker magnet and pass them through the center without touching the sides. Twil work with tools too.    8)

Cheap but effective!

Making progress towards the top.

It been a challenge getting the banks right. Tweak one and the  other changes. It's also picking up speed all the time so I've tried to add elements to slow it down at different points. Looks like when I get the tracks completed to the top I'll have to go back and add some structural supports to keep it in shape. Still, I want to keep everything mounted to the center post. It's removable with the intent of being able to change that module if I want.

I've been playing around with a vertical loop for the start at the top. We'll see.

I'll say that my "octopus" clamp system works pretty darned well.

Thanks Mac. I see about 6 months tinkering in this contraption.

Great news....I got my new balls today :w00t: :w00t: They work great!

Made another section of track this afternoon. No worries I have to ponder how to exit the tower and get the ball rolling........so to speak ;D

Very different for me Dom. I've always built in straight lines. This thing is kind of chaotic.

Makes an old man's brain work.
