Cool! Nice fish! I wish my wife would fish with me more. You're a lucky guy.

6/4 up date hit the river with friend Bill. Eight fish over 12 inches caught. Plus several shorts and your occasional rock bass. Plenty of dead Shad at this point. Eagles all over the place. Water temp was 64. Biggest fish of the day 3 lbs. 11 oz. 21 inches.

6/14 hit the river for my birthday. Ended up boating 12 smallmouth 14 inches and above. Biggest was 3 pounds just a bit over. Saw at least five Sturgeon biggest close to 3 feet and bunch O Carp. Water was still a bit stained and 68°. Dead and dying Shad all over the place starting to get a bit stinky.

Sounds like a great day on the water outside of the shad stink. Pretty neat seeing sturgeon as well. I had a buddy catch one soaking bloodworms several years back that was about 3 feet as well. We got the hook out as quickly as possible and sent her back into the water. There may or may not be a pic of it floating around on an old phone.

Nice work and happy bday mine was the 8th.

Nice smallies. I remember fishing up that way and being shocked how quickly the depth changes. The smallie fishing is dependable for sure.
-
Thanks for sharing!
Wouldn't lower water levels concentrate the fish in deeper holes making them easier to locate?

Today’s catch most of the fish came in less than 3 feet of water up against wood. Nothing out of deep water.

Hit the river this morning. For about four hours before the wicked hot. Ended up boating about 15 Bass.
Fish we’re up in shallow water. More of a senko bite today. Fish didn’t want a faster moving bait. Water at 71 deg.
At one point wife turned around saw this sturgeon behind the boat. Probably 20 to 24 inches long.

Sturgeon are cool fish!
There's some below Turners Falls that are reportedly about 6 or 7 feet long.
Supposedly a Piper Cub type airplane crashed in the river near there back in the 1950's, the pilot was killed, and they sent some divers down to retrieve they body.
A few minutes later, the divers came swimming back up to the surface and wouldn't go down again.
The reason? There was some "huge fish" (the sturgeon) swimming around down there that gave them the willies.
I cann't say I blame them.

Hit the river for four hours this morning. Water level extremely low almost had to walk the boat to the deeper water channel to use the gas motor. Water temperature up to 74°. Fish caught on surface baits and rubber worms.
Big fish of the day came in at 21 inches got four quality fish plus several shorts wife got the skunk.

That 21" small mouth must have given you one helluva fight! Congratulations.

Fished for three hours in the a.m. Water level extremely low made navigation an issue at times. Water temperature 79°. Ended up with six Bass 14 to 16 inches. Wife ended up with one. All fish caught on surface lures. Long cast to the spooky fish was the key. Came across four deer wading belly deep going upriver.

Nice job. It scares me navigating up there. You ever get walleye?

I have caught a handful but don’t target them either.

Makes sense it looked real nice for them up that way. Which I can only describe by saying as far as a 20ft alumacraft could possibly make it without having a real bad day.

Hit the river this morning for a four hour tour. Water level lowest it’s been all summer. Big surprise not. Rubbed a little more than paint off my prop in a couple areas. No damage done. Laurie ended up with three bass one keeper. I got eight bass six keepers. A couple quality fish. Water clarity extremely clear see the bottom in about 14 to 16 feet of water. Fish were hitting plastics and chatter baits.

Way to go FC.👍. We did that last evening.. So much fun…
-
More good-looking smallies, :thumbup_smilie:
-
I have stayed away from the river most of the summer because of the low water. However, I plan on a kayak trip for bass and a bank trip for Carp because of the rain this storm is predicted to drop.
-
Nice smallies.
-
Chunks. Good to see you're still getting on 'em.
