Aqua vu xl Do you have any tips,tricks,advice

I just got the unit today,the manual is as bare as can be. I want to use mine while trolling (1 to 1.3 mph) and while drifting.Tell me all you can I do hope to use it tomorrow if there's no thunderstorms around. I've never been around a aqua vu before so all advice tips and tricks are appreciated,

hey frog. how's it going? i have no experience with them, so i can't help. how's the fishing been?

pooley lake trout and pike fishing right now is the best i've experienced the last 7 years. I've not beaten any of my weight records yet (17lb pike, 10lb laker) but so far i'm catching many more fish on average. Seems like I catch a laker on every troll,and for pike the windy days are the best.

I've never actually seen them in action out on the water...

Can you use it for both open water and ice fishing ?

yep... u can troll with them in open water and they give u an extra fin to keep it from twisting all over the place. or u can just hang it over the side of the boat but it's a lot easier to use in the winter... they make any day a lot more enjoyable especially if there's kids around to play with it. i would reccomend inveting in a mopod though i need to for next season
