If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

This being the garden forum, anybody thinking about what you're gonna plant new this season?  I've got five 4x8 foot 10 inch raised beds.  I'm planning on filling one with 150 walla walla onion plants and 150 copra onion plants.  Has anyone in NE states grown any of these varieties? I'm also going to raise pole beans, and cucumbers on a trellis (not on the same trellis).  Last year I planted the beans and cucumbers too close to each other and the pole beans ended up 10 feet tall and grew over into the cucumbers which were about 3 feet away.  So you live and learn!   :)

Oh yes, I bought my onion plants online at http://www.dixondalefarms.com/category/specialty_onions  300 plants for $25, including free shipping doesn't seem like a bad deal to me.

Looking forward to your input.

Later, Chuckles

I've been thinking a lot about what I'm gonna plant.  I'll have to dig out my drawing from last season and decide what's going where. I'll probably skip planting beans this year, back off on the jalapeņos and try bush pickles. I already picked up some seed from the Lowes where I work part time. They're working furiously to set up the garden center by 3/16. Plants usually come in in April.

I'm still planning on building a 30" x 96" trough bed with cover for  starting all my plants outdoors. Then I'll use it for greens like spinach and such. I'm thinking of placing it next to my Morning Glory towers. It'll get full sun in the spring and be spared from the hot afternoon sun later in the season using the morning glories as shade.
I'll start my seedlings in April and see how things go.
Should be a fun experiment.

I'm really getting the itch to play in some dirt ;D
