I was just wondering if anybody is perch fishing the big lake this Wed and Thur. Temp near 50 degrees and light wind. I dont fish the big lake much and have little experience perch fishing. Are they still biting this time of year? Portage or Hammond? Any info would be appreciated. PM me if you like. Thanks

Haven't heard of any catches on the lake itself. They've been catching them up the Calumet river. On Sunday they were past the 106th Street bridge. I didn't mark anything and no one was fishing from boats between the mouth and 106th.

I to have heard of fish being caught in 40 to 50 fow. I like to chase them when they come in shallow 10 to 30 fow.

I agree with bishop , my perch season begins when the get into the 30's then its game on ! Im figuring the second week of june

They're in real thick right now, 20-30 feet north of Michigan City. Mostly spawning males in the 8-9 inch range
Females are still deeper for the most part
Spawn's in full swing, in a coupla weeks it should be wrapping up and if we get some nice early summer weather it'll be really game on
