I wouldn't be surprised if some moved in. I would rather have them stack up in the lake for a while longer though.

That's how I first started fishing them last year. Flat lining with my walleye rods in 15fow. The first one hit and I couldn't believe it. Just full speed in the other direction, and the boat was barely moving forward so my jaw dropped when I heard that drag screaming.

Can't wait to do it again, although I'll use some heavier gear this year. I've got my braid dipsy rods and just bought upgraded hooks and split rings. They mangled the heck out of standard gear last year. Broke a couple of plugs in half too.

All worth it though.

When do they start getting that shallow, the dipsy rigs are fun but I would love to nail some flatlining!

When you start seeing them Hitting the river, then you know there are some around the mouth or the guys start posting their results , keep an eye on this thread  , I'll tell ya , you will never forget the strike , if they are good ones it can be a struggle getting the rod out of the holder at times , we use to do our best on J-plugs , the good ol silver bullet , but there are other choices , trust me it's a hoot

Oh I do trust you, I plug for stripers alot but this sounds like it will get the blood boiling.  Thanks much for the info!  I habe the right boat 19'6 alumacraft but I have yet to "rigger" it up so to speak so its dipsys and flatlining for me.

Dont blame you.  Bigredfishing was nice enough to get me addicted to those fish too.  Too many species, too little time!
