I been using something new !  it's called a  kayuk fly ... simple  fly  tied  in many  sizes  with bright glow bug yarn   fished   with a dead drift  style   simply toss the  fly well ahead of a salmon watch the  fly  just  pass  his  head  set the  hook straight up  and  KAAAA  YUKKKKK  fish on !!!!!

i  told  you guys  how  to  tie  it  and  how to  fish it  .....

take  a  hook  size  2  or  4  .......  but a  small  amount of  glow  yarn on it ...I  prefer  bright orange  personally  for  better  visability  ....place  a  split  shot or 2   4  foot  up the  leader .... be  legal  now   guys  !!!!!  now   using  good  polaroid  glasses  spot  a   fish   cast  directly in  front of the  fish  and  let the  line  dead  drift   try  to  get the  split  shot   to  drift  very  close to his  face on your  side  ...when  you see  your  line  is  just  beyond his  head .... THE  FISH  HAS TAKEN YOUR  FLY  !!!!!  lift directly  upward  hard   your  rod  will  make  a  kaaaayuk  sound  and  fish  on!!!!!  those  darn old  kings  sure  do hit out od  aggression  don't they ...I  think the  state  may need  to make  a  law  agaist  small  children  wadeing in the river!!!!
