Tog fishing
« on: Jul 12, 2018, 09:52 AM »
I haven't targeted tog very much, whats the best bait and rig? We never seemed to hit many up in Gloucester but I have lobstermen friends that have been getting them in the traps the last couple of years and I think I might just have to start targeting them.
Thanks,
Squidy

Not worth targeting them right now. Only a 1 fish limit. Limit increases again in the fall. But as far as bait. Jig or Hi Lo with green crab
I fish every chance I get and enjoy every time I fish. They call it fishing not catchin

Hi low rig in deep water with just enough weight to hold bottom. Carolina rig with an egg sinker in shallow water or when casting to structure (think horizontal fishing line). Jigs will work in all depths.

Crabs, sea worms and mussels.
