Could the late ice on Lake George delay the smelt run? Or will they still run close to on schedule into the open streams?
i'm pretty sure your not allowed to dip for smelt on lake george ???
do you think there would be less idiot's if it were not illegal to kill people!!!!!

You're not.

But its a rare time where you can cast for lakers from shore. They school up at the mouths of the brooks and gorge themselves.

does anyone know when they ran in oswego last year?
The last time i got them good in Oswego was......1986  ::)
I got a few (like 6-7) in Selkirk two years ago... ::)
My friend almost limited out in pulaski last season?
I'm going to keep trying the local places like Fairhaven, Oswego, Grindstone... The population seems to be making a rebound in Lake Ontario?
But there's no doubt I'm making the drive to Artpark on April 15 th!  ;D

Hi guys I'm from Ct. and will be upstate Ny within the next 2 weeks and would like to get some info on were we can go to dip for smelt? My property is in Frankfurt Ny [Herkemer county] just off the thruway . what would be the closest lake or tributary to try this. I will be upstate planting some trees, might just have to do some fishing while we are there ??? Thanks
If it was easy they would have called it catchin, not fishin
