bluegills again

Took a little drive and visited some friends who live on a small, but fairly developed
lake.  The waters of this bow are highly eutrophied and, for the record, there's no
way I'd remotely consider eating anything caught out of there. The lake has decent channels,
and LMB, fair crappies and about a bajillion small bluegills.  I took my 3 wt, a few
sponge ants and opened shop from the bank. The action was fast and furious.  One
of the gills I caught was a true bull - full color, "shoulders", and a humped up forehead.
The fish was only about 6" long... Yup, the lake has a bunch of stunted sunfish. Aside from
a random, and out of the blue 10" redear taken last fall, this lake has never given up a 7"
sunny.... thank goodness for 3 wts.

A flyrod is always fun for even smaller bluegills.

I catch out about 600 females and smaller gills with a flyrod in my grow out pond and temporally put them in a floating pen until I give them to a friend that manages ponds and needs them for clients. The flies really take a beating as I have to replace them in short order.

He came out and cut down 6 or 8 massive willows for me at no charge so I owe him for years to come. And it's good to keep them thinned out. And of course lots of fun.

I have some real bruisers in the pond that are a handful on hook and line and an occasional 3 pound bass is a good tussle on a fly rod.
