Cartagena, Columbia today. The girls are ashore attending a jewelry making class. Dan and I are chilling on the ship. I watched that guy in the skiff haul in a huge fish just after I snapped that photo. Sorry I never got a shot of the fish.

I just checked on whether I could fish off my balcony. Like maybe while docked at port.
The answer was a resounding no.
You are not allowed to throw anything overboard, even something tethered to a line that could retrieve it.
The major concern is workers below, and/or passengers on lower decks.
There are cameras all over these ships for safety and security. So avoiding getting caught would be difficult.
-
Well if the girls had plans to make jewelry you two should have found a place in port to fish…😎😎
-
You would think !

I seem to remember a kid got caught fishing out of his window several stories up at Disney World in Florida. I guess there was a pond or small lake down below. People started noticing fish being reeled up past their windows. Don't recall what floor he was on.

My BIL doesn’t fish.
Besides, the Bills are playing.

Bloodies were first.
Beers now.
No tequila at this time.
Tequila on these ships is just ok.
Choices are getting better, but……

There is a bridge camera we can access on our tv. There’s a narrative on it too. We are currently waiting for permission to access the locks. Last time we were here we went thru the old original locks. This time around we are going thru the recently constructed new larger locks.

Cool.
And just think Little Falls NY used to have the tallest lift lock till they built that..
-
Very cool, that's a great adventure.

Very cool, I loved going and watching the locks work when I was down there.

Nice pictures, thanks for sharing, they warmed me up on this 14* morning....h2l

Quite the adventure, glad you are enjoying yourself, but tell the truth don't you miss the snow in New York haha.

Nope!
Never will

They are airing the Bills game tonight on the Jumbotron on the top deck of the ship. Dan and I sought out the Cruise Director the other day and ran it by him. Chris met the Entertainment Officer yesterday and also ran the idea by him. Not sure if either of these were the cause, but who cares. I could have streamed it as we did last week and all of the Sabres' games, but this is way better. Besides, we will have waiters and waitresses to fetch us drinks. :)

Cool. I missed the whole game.. >:(
-
Bummer Dom - it was a real nail biter for sure.
Sabres won too!!!
Home again.
Nice being close to the port.
Drive home was like 2.5 hrs.
Departing the ship, customs, retrieving the truck, etc. was a breeze.
FAR easier and less time than past trips.
I just made us a small bfast as we hadn't eaten since dinner last night.
Also took a bag of previously cooked roast pork out of the chest freezer for dinner later.
We love cruising, but it's always nice to get back home.
Now to go get Macy.
-
The trip was awesome, and badly needed by both of us.
The move coupled with the hurricane and everything else that we have been dealing with built up a lot of stress.
Not supposed to have more stress when you retire!!!
So, this little trip helped us to chill away from things for a bit.
We booked next year's cruise while aboard the ship.
Next November we will fly to Rome, Italy.
We will spend 3-4 days there sightseeing, and then board a ship for a 15-day cruise back to Lauderdale here in Florida.
The first 8 days are around the Mediterranean stopping in Spain, France, Italy, Gilbralter, and Portugal.
Then 7 days at sea cruising to Lauderdale.
These "transition" cruises, where they relocate a ship, are about 2/3 the cost of the same length cruise elsewhere.
Of course, they have less ports they visit.
Should be fun.
-
Sounds amazing!!
-
Thanks Wally.
BTW, Donna is Italian.
She has always wanted to visit Italy.
Her family is from Calabria, way down in the "toe of the boot".
We won't get down there, but she's cool about it, and excited.

My son, daughter in law and grandkids went to Rome and Positano last fall, they loved every minute of it!!
