Some fish in there. Go get em
The perch fishing just west of Hammond and I believe in Illinois water is still quite good. I really do not know the name of the body of water but we launch out of Hammond and head north and slightly west. It is short run and we go up a river type body of water that meanders under the sky way bridge. Anyway, on the way up the river, you look for slack water on the sides behind jut outs and barges and watch your electronics. The perch are not everywhere but tend to stack up in large schools. With the limit being 15, it is not too difficult to limit out with a little effort. You pass by groups of people fishing from the shoreline randomly located. I purchased an Illinois license as I could not get a clear cut answer about boundaries and reciprocity of license. The annual Illinois license, I think, was $30. Anyway, this past Sunday, the wind was howling and we made the run with 6 people in the boat and limited out with 90 perch in about 2 hours. We had several at 12" but the majority were 9-10". It is such a bonus to be out this time of year, with friends and to be real productive on the water. Give it a try...
