Rice Lake Ontario September 2005
« on: Mar 22, 2005, 10:51 AM »
well Im new to this site so I thought I would play catch-up and show off some photos from last years outings. This set is from Rice Lake in Ontario, we pounded the weedbeds and slop all day and these were our rewards

The last photo is of the damage caused by the local cormorants. These birds are everywhere and eat over a pound of fish a day per bird. They have taken over this particular Island and you can see the damage they have done. (and no that aint snow!)

Welcome to the site. Those birds do have a liking for islands. They did the same thing to the Four Brother Islands on Lake Champlain and Galloo Island on Lake Ontario.

Nice bass

I spared these guys from the pan.  I love to prepair and eat fish but whenever I'm on a heavily fished lake I like to do my part and practice a method I saw on iceshanty CPR, catch photograph and release.

Way to go. Those are some nice lmb. How do they taste. Never have tried them before. What would you compare them to.
A bad day of fishing is still better than a good days work!!!

A lot of people say largemouth taste awful but when caught from cold, clean water they aren't bad. I still prefer walleye, perch, and trout though.

I dont mind the taste of LMB, but as TFB stated it all depends on the water source. We did not eat these, they were all released for the greater good. Hope to see them again this year
