I used to use a lighter to heat up the jigs but not too crazy about an open flame in my work area. Switched to a heat gun. works great

I use a heat gun and bake them in a Goodwill toaster oven. My setup, has 3 stations, an aquarium pump and valve. The canisters came from a supplier(can't remember who) and have permeable membranes on the bottoms. With the pump on I can adjust the amount of air in each canister and it fluffs up the powder. Gives the parts a nice even coat without any clumping.

I'll have to get it out and take some pics.

Definitely clean out the eyes before baking. The stuff gets hard as nails when it's baked.

I did so many jigs One winter that I haven't had to fire it up in a couple years.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

You can DIY most all of it but his fluid bed cups will give a smoother finish with less drips in the toaster oven.  I have a few dedicated to the regular colors and one I use to clean out and change color for those I use only occasionally.   https://www.tjstackle.com/fluidbed2.htm
Bigger isn't always better but Size definitely Matters!

Whipped these up tonight with some foam beetles. These little #18 ants are my favorite dropper this time of year.

Nice Matt. I’ve been playing with small foam patterns too. I’ll post some tomorrow when I get back from carp fishing.

Can’t remember where I got that Matt. It’s a fine mesh wing material. I was playing with a set of wing burners I bought .....a long time ago. They actually liked the wing a bit better then no wing. I was surprised.

Do you run the trico off of the bumble bee using the bumble bee as a sight aid?

edit : And should I be tying bumble bees for trout? Never tried them.
