« on: Jul 26, 2019, 04:49 PM »
I'm a new bee on down rigging. If I'm dragging worm harnesses behind the ball how far back
from the ball should I have my bait. thanks

I would go a min of 25'.Though personnely I'd start at 50 at play with it from there. There are times longer is better and times shorter is better.

Depth comes into play.
In shallower waters, where the boat is visible to the fish, longer leads work better.

We troll in Erie, where the water is typically very clear.
Riggers set 25-30’ down get 50’ leads.
30-40’ down get less than that.

You be the judge.
Good luck.
