action disks?

Has anyone tried these just ahead of their flies to give them some action (similar to a dodger)? I was thinking when the water is below 40 degrees, fly-trolling speed of 2.5 mph or so might be too much, and these would provide some action to flies when you're moving at .5 mph., perhaps when also trolling bait.

I've used the round ones from a different manufacturer. They work fine, these may work better.
Keep an eye on your leaders. The ends will chafe. I'd try a bead, between.

Good to see I am not the only 1 with my eye on open water.

I use them the work pretty good. I think the fastest I have run them is 2mph. Add great action to the fly

do you thing the fly with an action disk provides any advantage over running a spoon at lower speeds?
I've also read about the using a stopper/bead to protect the leader from fraying.
I got on open water last weekend! dusted off the boat and trolled for trout down by cape cod. water temps 36-39 degrees. pretty slow day. The powerbaiters did well from shore.
