i use an improved clinch but i saw on knot wars a knot that is stronger that i've used a couple times and works well just is more of a pain to tie... i don't remember the name of it but loop through the eye twice then wrap the line around the 2 loops a few times and pull tight

I believe it is best to lick your line and get a bunch of spit on it. I don't think there is any better lubricant than spit.

I agree with Aquaman. The Palomar is rated at near 100%.I've been using it exclusively for years and have never had a problem.

yeah thats the one i always new it was strong and it was proven on that show pound for pound but it just takes longer to tie for me rather than a few quick spins then the improved clinch... but i don't tie it too often so with practice im sure timing would be about the same

Other than special purpose knots...these are all I use.

i fish with fluorocarbon most of the time, and use the improved clinch.  the line i use has never snapped on a fish, but on snags, the line always breaks before the knot does, every time.  i don't tie mine with spit, either.

Palomar knot or the improved clinch, with ample saliva. Either is easy to tie and perform very well.
