Post by: yellowned on Sep 22, 2020, 11:37 AM
If I have fish at 30 feet down and I 'm using a 2oz bottom bouncers going 1 to 1.2 mph
10 lbs line  how much line do I let out to achieve 30 ft  down to my fish?

The rule of thumb is 1 oz for every 10' of water depth.

But to answer your question, enough line for it to tick bottom.
I know that's not exactly what you wanted to hear, but............

Good luck.

Checking  the precision trolling app at 1.5 mph 88 ft for 2 ozs, so slower would be a bit less line out.

Agree, go slower if using 2oz.
.75 to 1.0

This gets you close to where you want to be, you have to adjust for everything, speed, line size, lure size, bottom bouncer weight, even the size of the blades or the amounts of beads or the leader effect it.

This looks about right.
@ 1.5mph you can't tough bottom with only 2 oz even with 100' out back

Obviously go slower or use more weight.

I like to just let mine hit the bottom, then keep the line at 45 degrees or less.  You'll be able to tell when it's bouncing off the bottom.
