whens a good time, place and to use for these fish near edmonton

fish the north sask river for these guys or the red deer river, they start to get good early in the year.. but in the summer like july they are awesome. very aggresive when u find a school of htem, theyll  hit anything.. spinners. flies work great.

Where is a good place to fish for goldeye??  Are they good eating?  I have never caught one but i know it could be some fun (what kind of fishing isnt fun)!  I live around Spruce Grove (west of edmonton) and i know how to acess it from the devon bridge and the genesse bridge, is there any spots around these areas??
