My son and I took a young man on his first steelhead foray on the pier at Michigan City last night. About 3:00am the line gets hit. He is into his first steelhead and eventually lands it with the netting done by my son. I had gone on a little walk to warm up and wake up and when I returned these two are having a great time. Nice steelhead of about 9lbs. He later got to land two more steelhead for a couple of people. He was also given a couple of steelhead to take home by others. Thanks to those that made this a great day for this fine young man. I think he is hooked on steelhead.
Just pass it on.

Getting a little slow for the steelies but come fall keep an eye on here. Be happy to have you along. I think spring is best though. Cold but can be exciting for smaller fish (coho) but you never know what will show up. A five pound whitefish? ten pound brown or a near fifteen pound steelhead? And don't forget the walleye and lake trout.
