They look like a worm I've seen here in MA for decades.
Shiny worms that wriggle real fast, slither through dirt and debris like a snake?
They look good when they wiggle, but when hooked they virtually explode (body fluids leak out) like a slug.
The ones I've encountered over the years are not as hearty as traditional earthworms.
I've NEVER seen them underground, but rather under leaf litter and decaying debris.
They will do in a pinch, but as I said, their bodies are not "hook-friendly" for fishing.
