I had the exact same problem with my back and had surgery for it in 1989. It was very successful and I was fishing on Lake Erie, back to work and playing golf and skeet shooting 2 weeks after I got out of the hospital. Of course I healed pretty quick since I was only 31 at the time. The surgery they do now is whole lot better since they only need a tiny incision. (I had a bunch of staples in a 3" incision.)I hope you can get it done soon and you bounce back quickly. The back of my left calf is still a little numb after all these years but it sure beats the pain.
