I've been working on some stone fly patterns. The bottom is my 1st attempt at a "wiggle stone" :-\

It'll get there.

I gotta start on some streamers and hoppers pretty soon. I've got enough nymphs for a small army.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Thanks!

Nice stones RG. Here's my go-to stone pattern. When I was a teenager I did most of my fly fishing on the Battenkill and at that time (1970s), there was a little fly shop I used to hang out in called the Angler's Nook. I caught the owner, George Schlotter tying this one day and he shared the recipie. The key is blending dark brown, amber, and yellow rabbit fur to get that color and using a needle to really pick out the fur.  I've caught more 20 inch plus fish on this than any other nymph pattern.  I use a # 8 in the ADKs and # 6 in the Catskills.

I played with a bit last summer, but I really noticed how effective the backwards tie was with my ice flies.

Sound decision. The simple operation, hook holding power and versatility make the price an exceptional value in my book. I spent most of today on mine working up a couple of patterns.

The Wulffs are tied with elk hair wings for extra flotation. I love that pattern. The 'wiggle stones" are something new for me. I'm still working on them. I like the idea though.

Nice looking stuff RG! I played around with the wiggle stones a few years ago and the jury is still out. They look cool though...  8)
I need to sit down and tie some stuff for april, may, and june in the catskills. I have a half ton of flies but alyays end up needing to tie more the night before...
