Lake Erie Perch
« on: Aug 06, 2018, 09:23 PM »
Spent Wed,. eveninig til Monday noon at Lake Erie. Warm !!! Hot!!!!!! I mean HOT!! But did well and had a great time!
Thursday morning, 9:00 until 11:00 three of us boated a 3 man limit of 90 perch, weighed 44.7 pounds. Lots of 12"-14". Fat!!! Fished 23 feet of water north of Crane Creek. Friday slowed a bit  to 60 fish. Listened to guys in trailer park and went to A Can on Saturday. Caught 15 in 20 minutes then couldn"t get a bite. They caught 107, 5 guys. Sunday, same game but worse, only caught 7 fish.
Today, Monday, went back to  Crane Creek and caught 90 in two hours and 15 minutes. Lots of 14's. Weighed 43.5 pounds.
My buddy has a 28 foot boat with cabin and wind cooperated most of the time, 7 mph- 10 mph as we anchored off back of boat and kept us in the shade with a west, south west wind.
Great trip!

Sounds really fun Teach. I have never been on Erie. Is there a lot of protected Bay Area for a smaller boat or do you need to go out miles from shore to catch perch?

That’s BIG water and shallow. Can blow up in a heart beat. Saw several 16 foot boats but most IO’s and big. Saw a guy in kayak all rigged out. He was fishing——about 3 miles off shore!!!! ::)

Nice catch, sounds like it was a good trip.  Always going to have an off day, or sometimes more in my case.
