Went out at noon today and caught these 15 gills.  Fished for 2 hours mostly in 27 fow using crickets for bait.  Had one at 10 in., 2 at 9 3/4 and 1 at 9 1/2.

Beautiful catch -- details please --- anchored?  Spotlocked? Drop shot? Slip bobber? I read the crickets part but was just curious as to the approach.  Drop straight down or cast out and drag back?  We appreciate this info regardless of the body of water as it helps us determine what technique to employ...  Thanks also for reporting... enjoy this day...

I use the spotlock when I catch my first fish.  Fish that area for a while and when things dye down I will slow troll until the next fish is caught and repeat this.  I am using the drop shot rig with 2 hooks above the sinker.  I am usually fishing in 25-33 fow.  My drop shot set up is usually fished straight down over side of boat.  My partner and I got 45 today and I did catch 7 gills casting out just to try something different when the bite stopped.  Hope this helps.

Congrats on the nice catch, those are some dandy gills for sure.  When drop shotting are you setting it on the bottom or realing up a couple of cranks?

The fish locater dictates how far off bottom I am but mostly this time of year I just pull it up a few inches.
