How did opening weekend treat you?
« on: May 17, 2004, 09:53 PM »
I found the fishing very slow.  I only caught 1 perch and 1 jack in two days on the Winnipeg River.  Went into George Lake today and did pretty good, a few trout, a few jacks, a few whitefish and a bass.

Lockport was good. Big Whiteshell was really slow, but we managed some fish anyways.

I was disapointed with the Assiniboine river at Portage.

On saturday all I managed to catch was a sucker fish. It was sad. The water is very low for this time of the year.

On sunday I went out on the Portage Diversion and caught 10 northerns each ranging 5-10lbs. nothing huge but sure felt good to reel in a fish.

I do hope that the fishing will pick up and the weather will make a big diffrence if it keeps climing this week. Will have a fun filled May long.

Tight lines!!

Fishing isn't a matter of life or death, it's much more important than that!

I live with FEAR everyday, and sometimes she lets me go fishing!

As you heard from Grumpy Moe we did some Laker fishing and caught 4.  Tough fishing though and the water was extremely cold - 37 degrees.  This past Thursday I was out for Walleyes at crooked rapids on Lac Seul (nera Sioux Lookout ON.  Water was still very cold - 47 degrees - we caught 3 keepers below slot (18 to 21") and several over with biggest at 23".  Walleyes still don't seem to be too terribly active yet.
