Well, I headed out to do some crappie fishing yesterday, and my little spot was loaded with 10 trucks parked along the side of the road and guys were lined shoulder to shoulder. Im not one to stand in a pack to fish, so i moved down the road to another spot I have. The crappie had not reached spot number 2 yet, but I managed a few tiny Largemouths.. here is the first fish of the 2011 open water season (you know my rule, no matter how big or small, fish fish needs a photo)

Got out on this sweet mothers day morning for some Crappie fishing. I spent some time with my father in law, this was out second trip of the season, we got skunked on round one..
The Crappies where biting well, nothing huge, mostly 10's, we maanged a few dozen in about 3 hours of fishing.

As you can see the day got nice, jackets off, sunglasses on, but the bite slowed. I would her preferred the reverse

All in all a great day, 2 dozen crappies, another dozen or so gills, a few rock bass, one perch and a nice 2lb largie that surprised me when I threw my crappie tube under a nearby dock. Great way to celebrate mothers day, even if it was motherless

Hit Dog Lake for some crappie action today.. the bite was on early but tappered off in the afternoon.
The largmouth were also very active, hooked into two larger fish, one jumped bent my hook and threw it, the other snapped my line befor I could get a look at him.

Got some time out on Pigeon lake in the Kawarthas this past weekend.. In search of Crappies and ended up with close to 20lbs of largemouth bass.. the crappies did not show up until the evening bite, but all in all a great time on the lake

Well, I had the chance to break in my new Dobyns rods this past weekend, took them out to a local Crappie and Pike haunt.. no pike to be found, but this nice largemouth came in to surprise me..

Opening day my tournament partner and I hit Weslemkoon lake to shake off the rust.. he did just that finishing the day with these two beauties..

we caught fish all day long, most of then under 2lbs, but we ran into a couple smallies around the 3lb mark and then this guy ended the day, caught on a new live target frog

Day 2 of the new season and it was our first tournament of the year, a lake we had never sat foot on.. we knew it would be tuff going and with a 9.65lb bag to end the day it was.. but alot of other had a hard day as well, we placed 10th out of 30 anglers the top bag was 17lbs and at least 7 boats did not register a fish.. so no complaints.. we did lose two fish, one would have been pushing 4lbs.

Nice report and pics. Not bad for the first tournament of the year especially in tough conditions. Sounds like those two lost fish may have put you in some money. Maybe next time.

Well, I got out on Dog today for about 5 hours.. heavy traffic and a breeze made me decided to spend my time focused on the bays and doing some frog fishing. I recently picked up a new frog rod a Dobynes 735c, this was my chance to break it in along with the new live target frogs.
Right off the bat the live target hollow body went to work and I have 4 blow-ups in the first 30 minuntes.. all of wich I missed.. no bites on the follow-up bait so I chalked it up to rust and moved on.
In the second area I could see line marks all through the slop, so I was pretty sure the area had seen action already this morning, but hey, it was still worth a shot.. I ended up pulling 5 fish out of area number 2, and missed a couple more
after hitting some unproductive weedbeds I decided it was time to go back to the spot I started the day on. this time I was able to hook into another 4 fish. Last but not least I hit a pad section while waiting to leave the lake. two fish landed and a couple more misses.
the score at the end of the day was 11 landed and 8 missed.. not bad nearly 20 blow-ups on this sweet little frog.. the rod was awesome, I was able to pull some nice fish out from heavy cover. Here are some pics of a few of the larger fish I landed in the slop

I took my niece and nephew to the annual kids fishing derby at my parents park. It was a good turn out, I dont know many placed where a 6 year old kid has a legitimate chance to land a 5lb bass. No trophies this year, but they still had a blast

I was able to get out on the water for nearly 5 hours this morning, befor the heat really kicked in. No topwater bite to speak of at all, got a few small jig bites (both fish under 1lb) and was only able to get two fish to commit to the frog.. but they were picture wortht

It wa hard work on the frog bit, check out the pattern i layed.. i took this pic after my first fish, so all those casts amouted to 1 bite, and there are even more trails that are not visible. Gotta thank an artilce in FLW outdoors, it rally pushed trying to lay a cast every two feet to find fish with a frog

Well this past Sunday was event #2 in my tournament season, this time we were off to Weslemkoon lake. We did not have a great day and were only able to produce 9.45lbs.
the tournament was won with just under 24lbs.. thats crazy awesome for this series..

a few buddies and I have two annual fishing trips.. a summer trip and an ice fishing trip each winter. This past weekend was our summer trip, and this year we stayed at Anchorage Resort on Paudash Lake in the Bancroft area.
the accommodations were nice and the hosts were very friendly and accommodating

The fishing was good, we had some changing weather conditions but we managed fish each day. We did a fun mini tournament, and switched up team daily. I was lucky to be on the winning team on day 1 and 2, but lost on day 3.. here are some pics from the weekend

It was prefish time again.. my tournament partner and I hit Limerick lake to do some prefishing for a tournment next weekend. We had a pretty good day and managed a bag just over 13lbs.
I had some spots marked out from past tournaments but the results were less them impressive. We found a new pattern and hammered fish all day long on frogs. We worked a 1, 2 punch combo, i was buzzing a manns hard nose frog quickly over the pads and my partner used the slow approach with a hollow bodie. this was great as we quickly picked up on the agressive and not so aggrive fish in each area.
the best fish if the day was this 4lber.. he was hanging off the end of a falled tree.. when the hollow body hit the water he exploded on it, he came up hard and fast and nearly swallowed that thing hole.

My best of the day was also a reaction strike. This fish hit my frog the instant it hit the water. He ran hard and fast at the boat and I was in burner mode to keep up.

Nice fish guys. I hate it when I forget my sunglasses... I always feel that if I can see a bass, I can catch it, so without the polarized glasses, it's like having one strike against me. It didn't seem to affect your fishing that day!
Gene Mueller recommended that I remove sunglasses for my pictures, at least for posting in the public. He says that seeing people's eyes is more appealing to the general public. I personally think that I look better in sunglasses, the more that I can hide of my ugly mug the better ;D

my tournament partner and I hit the water for our 4th tournamanent of the season.. the weather did not play nice 50km/h winds and cool temps turned the bite off fast
Although all of our prefishing went out the window due to the weather we still managed a decent bag (just over 12lbs) and ended up in 6th.. missed 5th place and the money by 0.15lbs

thats the one.. It is a great lake.. It is about a 1hr45 drive. They have cheap rentals for a weekend as well. Put it this way, I have a buddy that has pulled a 24lb bag off that lake. I have had a few close to 20lbs (5 fish limits)

I only know one launch and it is at LImerick lake lodge.. $10 to park and laucnh, good launch with a store and plenty of parking
