Reubens 2005 Album!!!
« on: Mar 17, 2005, 03:57 PM »
I will start this out now as I finally have something worth posting.  I got 10 perch one day, but nothing exceptional so I didn't even take a pic.  I went fishing yesterday (wednesday) with my newly found fishing fanatic buddy!! I finally found one as crazy about fishing as me, that didn't already have a buddy or that lived close enough.  You will see pics of him and read stories of him frequently I am sure.  Anyway, we started at Sampson State Park wed. and got old.  Tyler had one good hookup but los tit and lost two other good bites one was a nice brown that we saw strike.  After that, we decided to try this one place that he has permission to access on Seneca lake and he got two LMB 18 & 14... a BIG surprise and his Step- sons friend an 18 yr old named  MAtt got a 16 incher (his largest LMB ever) but I didn't get a hit.  Finally about 4 PM I decided to start actively fishing for trout again, as we were just tinkering around wasting time until the afternoon bite.  Almost immediately I had a hit!!!!!! FISH ON  A laker 6 lbs easy gave me a decent fight, but when Tyler tried to net it, he took a run, and dumb me didn't go for my reel, which is old and the drag isn't good, so it snapped my line.  About 5 minutes laker another about the same size bit and I fought it for a while, but it came disconnected after a minute of fighting.    About 10 minutes later Matt got a 29 inch 7.9 lb brown trout, his biggest fish I think, and his first non -stocker brown. He was excited.  I was thinking, I need to land a fish, I was skunked so far, not one landed.  Well about 5 minutes after that... BAM a nice hit and I set the hook hard. I am using a 9 foot noodle rod with 10# line that is old so I need to be careful. The fish didn't fight that well, but not too bad... My largest pike!!!!!  I was excited. Tyler had 2 pike bite his line, but no more hookups.  This morning went back and fished for a couple hours, and Tyle started it off with a 27.75 incher 6 lbs, then Matt with a 26.5 inchers about 5.5 lbs, and then I finally had a bite, and I started fighting this fish!!! It gave me 3 good runs and finally Tyler netted the 30 inch 8.5 lb laker that is my largest trout ever!!!!!    We got 20 lbs of fish and had a blast.  Can't wait until next week to go back!!!!!       I also only had hop waders and the last 1.5 - 2 hours I had wet feet. the waves were about 2 foot high and I got drenched. Talk about COLD feet!!!!  They took forever to warm up!

Sorry the pics are so big, will work on it to keep them small... will try to change them in a day or two
33.75 inch pike 9.5 lbs

Fishing isn't a matter of life or death, it's much more important than that!

I live with FEAR everyday, and sometimes she lets me go fishing!

Those are some good fish. That sounds like it was some intense action! I especially enjoyed reading the story about how it all happened. Keep us updated :)

Hey Reuben, great catch and story!  Were you guys using bait or lures?
Oh Lord - there he is, it feels like a big one, please don\'t let me lose him, I\'ve never caught one this big before.  I\'ll try not to horse him, and if I land him, I promise to release him, and make a graphite replica, if my wife says it\'s ok.  Thank you for the Rapalas...
