Ice shove on Green Bay
« on: Mar 20, 2006, 08:48 AM »
Pete and I thought we'd take a break from late ice panfishing, we took a ride out to Oconto seeing if we could drive out and do some late ice pike fishing. On arrival we found the recent high winds had pushed the ice out and into some nice piles so even walking out looked very unsafe. I came back later with Cheryl and took a few pics this morning.

Warning do not try this at home!

Looks like time to get the boat ready!

I remember climbing up "ice mounds" like those when i was a kid...one year when lake ontario froze out a 1/2 mile from shore.

woah..That's pretty massive.  I walked out onto the ice mounds on Lake Michigan in South Haven a couple of winters back; it was pretty cool.  I don't think it even got cold enough for long enough this winter for them to build up.

great pictures, looks like it's still pretty cold up there, but almost time for the boat to get wet too.  ;D
Fishing isn't a matter of life or death, it's much more important than that!

I live with FEAR everyday, and sometimes she lets me go fishing!

I saw that on Lake Erie - near Cleveland about 25 years ago.  I was about 10 at the time and I don't have any pictures.  But the image is burned in my mind.
